Claude vs ChatGPT for ad management: what our agency uses
Comparison applied to paid traffic: metric analysis, creative production and reporting. Why our agency standardized on Claude and where ChatGPT still comes in.
The question arrives every week on our WhatsApp: "for paid traffic, is Claude or ChatGPT better?". The short answer is Claude, with punctual use of ChatGPT for specific tasks. This piece shows why our agency standardized on Claude for ad management, where ChatGPT still comes in, and what changes in the day to day of anyone running Google Ads, Meta Ads and TikTok Ads.
Where the decision matters in paid traffic
A traffic manager uses AI in four moments:
- Analyzing campaign metrics.
- Creating creative (copy and script).
- Reporting to the client.
- Diagnosing an account before taking it over.
Each moment has different demands. Analysis requires consistency with numbers. Creative needs brand voice in real language. Reporting needs an executive read without fluff. Diagnosis needs reasoning about account structure. That is why the "best model" depends on the task.
Comparison table applied to paid traffic
| Task | Claude | ChatGPT |
|---|---|---|
| Large campaign spreadsheet analysis | Wins. Takes whole CSV without slicing, keeps numeric consistency. | Good, but occasionally makes up numbers when volume is large. |
| Google Search ad copy in local language | Wins. Natural language, consultative tone, no clunky loanwords. | Very good, with an occasional bias to literal translation. |
| Creative script for Reels and TikTok | Good, especially with a detailed brief. | Wins on volume: generates 20 variations in seconds, more spontaneous humor. |
| Account structure diagnosis | Wins. Cautious, states hypothesis before conclusion. | Fast, but jumps to conclusion when data is thin. |
| Weekly PDF report | Wins. Writes like a serious consultant. | Good, but needs more revision to not read like a LinkedIn post. |
| Image generation for thumbnails | Not the focus. | Wins. DALL-E integrated in the same chat. |
| Ready community GPTs | Does not have that format. | Wins. Large marketplace. |
| Posture with client data | Wins. On paid tier, does not use conversations for training by default. | Good, with configuration. |
Why our agency standardized on Claude
Standardizing is different from choosing. Standardizing means 90% of the team's work goes through a single tool. That pays off in:
- Consistency across different managers working on the same client.
- A reusable prompt library inside the team.
- Less time lost choosing which AI to use.
- Skills and automations grow on top of a single stack.
For our agency, the standard is Claude for three concrete reasons:
- Campaign analysis in real language. Our weekly report is read by the business owner, not by a Fortune 500 media director. It has to read like a consultant, not like a translated American MBA deck. Claude delivers that.
- Numeric consistency. When someone asks "which campaign has the best CPA in the last 4 weeks", Claude crosses the data the right way. ChatGPT sometimes guesses.
- Integration via MCP. The agent layer running for our clients was built on Claude Code and MCP. Switching engines now would mean rebuilding the entire structure.
Where ChatGPT still comes in
Standardizing does not mean fanaticism. We use ChatGPT in three specific cases:
- Image generation for thumbnails and static creative. DALL-E inside the chat is practical.
- Brainstorming hooks for Reels and TikTok. ChatGPT generates 30 hooks in 10 seconds with more spontaneous humor. We then pass to Claude to refine what goes to the editor.
- Pocket assistant for the manager. Some managers on the team prefer ChatGPT on mobile. We do not fight it. What matters is that the final product goes through the Claude standard.
Practical wins the agency way
After Claude became the standard, three things changed in day to day traffic management:
- The Friday report dropped from half a morning to 20 minutes. The manager reviews and sends. The analysis comes ready.
- New client diagnosis became a 1-day process. Claude reads the account structure, points out misconfigurations, suggests reorganization.
- Anomaly alerts started arriving in the minute. Before, the client would discover it in the meeting. Now, Claude via MCP warns the group as soon as CPA or CTR drift.
For anyone starting out on their own account
If you are a solo manager or a business owner running your own account, start like this:
- Subscribe to Claude Pro. Around US$ 20 per month.
- Keep free ChatGPT next to it for image generation.
- Save the prompts that pay off in a single document. That is worth more than a paid course.
- Before taking on a new client, paste the account structure into Claude and ask for a diagnosis. You will walk into the kickoff meeting knowing more than the owner.
