Paid traffic
How long paid traffic really takes to work
The structured quarter month by month, why month one is development and the realistic maturity expectation by channel (Google, Meta, YouTube, TikTok).
The question is honest and the answer must be too: paid traffic does not deliver serious results in 15 days. Companies that follow the process have seen the pattern flip between month 2 and month 3, when the algorithm learns, the landing page matures and the sales team gets in sync. This piece walks the structured quarter, expectation by channel and why month one is always development.
Premise: a campaign is learning, not a switch
Turning on a campaign is not opening the money tap. The algorithm needs data to understand who converts, when and by which creative. Without 15 to 21 minimum days of operation, it decides in the dark.
The structured quarter, month by month
Month 1: development and learning
- Account structure built (Google Ads and Meta Ads).
- Pixel and conversions installed and tested.
- First batch of creative running.
- Targeting adjustments week by week.
- Goal: understand the real CPL of the niche, start generating contacts.
In this month, absolute numbers matter less than data quality. An anxious client shuts it down here. A disciplined client harvests in month 3.
Month 2: adjustment and implementation
- Cut what is not working, double down on what is.
- Second creative batch enters, testing winning angles.
- Remarketing plugged into prospecting.
- Landing page revised based on real behavior.
- Goal: stabilize CPL, start seeing consistent conversion.
Month 3: scale and optimization
- Gradual budget increase where the account supports it.
- Complementary channels tested (TikTok, YouTube).
- Sales team tuned to the leads the campaign produces.
- Reports broken down by 70/30 block.
- Goal: predictability. Not a miracle, a rhythm.
Realistic expectation by channel
| Channel | First clear signal | Maturity point |
|---|---|---|
| Google Ads (Search) | 2 to 3 weeks | 60 to 90 days |
| Google Performance Max | 3 to 4 weeks | 60 to 90 days |
| Meta Ads (Prospecting) | 3 to 4 weeks | 60 to 120 days |
| Meta Ads (Remarketing) | 2 weeks after prospecting | Continuous |
| YouTube Ads | 4 to 6 weeks | 90 days |
| TikTok Ads | 3 weeks | 60 to 90 days |
What speeds it up or slows it down
- Speeds up: prior conversion history, strong creative from day one, a landing page that already converts, a fast sales team on WhatsApp.
- Slows down: brand new account, freshly registered domain, regulated niche, generic creative, slow support.
Honest expectations by size
A client with R$ 1,200 per month in media sees a clear trend in month 3. A client with R$ 10,000 per month can see a trend already in month 1 thanks to volume, but still needs 90 days to consolidate the block-by-block reading. It is never magic; it is volume + time + process.
Expectation mistakes that kill the quarter
- Cutting the campaign on day 12 because "it is expensive". It is still learning.
- Switching agencies in month 2. The clock resets.
- Zeroing the budget on a bad week. The algorithm forgets what it learned.
- Measuring only raw ROAS without splitting prospecting from remarketing.
- Blaming the media manager for what is really a sales problem.
Why our agency runs a quarter
The MADS three-month method was designed exactly to fit the algorithm curve and the sales curve. Month 1 structures, month 2 stabilizes, month 3 scales. Without the three, there is no predictability. Companies that follow the process have seen volume gain predictability in that timeframe.
Closing
If you are starting now, plan for 90 days before demanding serious results from the channel. If you are in the middle of the quarter, stay disciplined.
